Marvel Studios has released the first poster for the upcoming I Am Groot series on Disney+. Also, they have shared that this series of original animated shorts are going to be premiering on August 10th, 2022. You can check out the poster below!

Not much is revelaed by this poster for the I Am Groot animated series. The only thing of note is that is seems that he is using Starlord’s cassette player. Other than that he seems to be big chillin’ with a drink and a couple of aliens that are probobly also up to some mischielf. I wonder if by chance we are going to a get “Groot Playlist” to accompany the shorts. Knowing how much Gunn likes to incorproate classic jams to his properties, that would be a lot of fun.

What a run Groot has had in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The character has been featured in a varity of Marvel films. Groot made his debut in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014. Where he is voiced by Vin Diesel who has to work with the fact that his only line is “I Am Groot!” After sacrificing himself, we have then been able to get to meet other versions of Groot including, Planter Groot, Baby Groot, and the ever annoyed Teenage Groot. He even had a special part in the creation of Thor’s axe at the time, Stormbreaker.

Gunn also shared his excitment on Twitter regarding this poster released. Here he took the chance to answer some fans questions. For one, he is not the director of this shorts but served as an excutive producer. The other more imporant thing is where these shorts fit in the MCU/Guardians timeline. He responded by saying that being that they are shorts they “not necessarily part of the Guardians saga”. Meaning if you haven’t watched any of the Guardians films, you can still enjoy these.
