If something is incredibly cheap, then it’s possibly too good to be true. A young man learned the hard way as he moved into a demon trap rental house in Sorry About the Demon.
The horror-comedy movie stars Jon Michael Simpson (Hi I’m, Hi I’m Blake), Jeff McQuitty (Hi I’m Blake, A Perfect Host), Olivia Ducayen (B-Side, Glory Days), and Paige Evans (Trapped with My Husband, Against Reason). Emily Hagins (My Sucky Teen Romance, Scare Package) wrote and directed the movie.
Here is the synopsis:
Sorry About the Demon follows the brokenhearted Will (Jon Michael Simpson), who after being dumped by his girlfriend Amy (Paige Evans), is offered a massive house at a very low rent. The catch is that the restless spirit haunting the place needs a human sacrifice and the prior owners must find one or else their young daughter is toast. So, Will must figure out how to make things right with his ex-girlfriend and banish the sacrifice-seeking demon residing in his house.

I’m a bit familiar with Emily Hagin’s horror short titled Cold Open, which was part of the horror anthology film Scare Package, which was quite hilarious. She also was one of the directors for the V/H/S mini-series. By being a part of those anthologies, she’s in good company with other horror directors from the indie horror realm.
Sorry About the Demon streams on Shudder on January 19th.
