According to a regular Lucasfilm insider, there are no signs of a Book of Boba Fett Season 2. However, the character may make his return in The Mandalorian Season 4. That’s the latest Barside Buzz from the folks at Making Star Wars. In the video linked MSW says that they were making inquiries into the rumored delay of Mando Season 4.
However, they also referenced previous leaks they posted where they made claims that Boba Fett’s ship was being set up for a production. At the time the leaks site was unsure whether this was for an unannounced Book of Boba Fett Season 2, or just the character returning in Mando S4? The site is now convinced it is the latter. Check out the quote below.
“I had touched base with sources [regarding the November rumour] and they hadn’t got back to me, but when they did I’d made up my mind that asking that was a bad idea. So I just asked them about what was going on and it’s a whole lot of nothing basically is what’s going on. But I did get more hits on the Boba Fett thing. So I think Boba Fett is in for Mando four and I don’t think there’s another show, and nobody knows what the other codenames that have been floating around are – specifically Ghost Track 17, but I think that was just a placeholder for something that was going to happen, but didn’t happen and they just keep it around incase something else does happen and they’ll take that name.”

In other words, if there is a Boba Fett Season 2, no one seems to know anything about it. It seems far more likely that Fett shows back up in the already written The Mandalorian Season 4. Does that mean we’ll never get a second Season of Boba Fett? I have no idea, but I’ll say this. If Lucasfilm does bring back Book of Boba Fett, they seriously need to redefine the tone of the series. A show about Boba Fett should not be the most kid focused live-action Star Wars show and yet, it currently is.
Perhaps it is better we have Fett play more of a background role in Mando instead for now? However, if I was in charge, I’d definitely make more Fett. I’d just take all the negative feedback on board and make the show a bit gritter and more mature.
Of course, since Mando Season 4 is not yet being filmed, it’s had to say how accurate all of this is right now. It remains to be seen when Mando films and if Boba Fett returns after all. Always take these early rumors with a pinch of salt. Sometimes the sources themselves don’t know all the details I’ve found at this point. Things can, and do change in this business.
