Starfield – Forza Motorsport – Clockwork Revolution Trailer: Xbox Showcase Highlights

Starfield, Forza Motorsport and Clockwork Revolution trailers. All three were the Xbox showcase highlights from yesterday's streaming event.

Check out Starfield, Forza Motorsport and Clockwork Revolution trailer below. All three were for me the Xbox showcase highlights from yesterday’s streaming event. Whilst there were many, many games shown including Star Wars: Outlaws, a big focus was on showing real gameplay from Xbox first party games, and more.

The two biggest first party Xbox/PC exclusives shown at the Xbox Showcase were Starfield and Forza Motorsport. The former from Bethesda, now owned by Xbox and the latter from long time Xbox studio Turn 10.

Let’s start with the big one.

Starfield

Starfield has been in development for what feels like forever. In many ways, Starfield is the successor to Skyrim, whilst not being in any way connected thematically. This is Bethesda taking that ‘anything can happen’ Skyrim sandbox and putting it in space.

The trailer below is pretty cool and all. However, the Bethesda devs also did a full deep dive into Starfield following the Xbox Showcase and it was only there I really started to get a feel for just how massive this game is.

If you have the time, it’s pretty long, then here is that deep look into Starfield and how it actually works and plays. Starfield Direct is over 45 minutes long folks, so go get comfy before diving into this one.

I have to say I like almost everything I see so far around Starfield. The game looks great, and it ticks that space race exploration bug, mixed with storytelling, aliens, and resource grinding. The only issue for me with Starfield is I feel like it will be a full time commitment to progress anywhere. I found at times the directionless nature of Skyrim to not always match my mood.

However, the real issue for me is going to devoting enough time to Starfield to make it worth starting. I don’t have much gaming time, and the majority of it gets taken up with another grindy space shooter in Destiny 2. For me, I’d need to stop playing Destiny 2, a game I’ve already put years into, one year before it ends to begin Starfield. But….I will get to it, eventually. It just looks too fun not to try it. If only I was young again.

Starfield will release on September 6 and is available day one to Game Pass subscribers.

Forza Motorsports

Now this is a game I will 100% be downloading on day one. It’s been years since we had a new Forza game…what’s that, Horizon? Look, they may both have the same name, but they are very, very different games. The last time we had a Forza Motorsport was the launch of the Xbox One. Since then it has been Forza Horizon games every year, or every couple at least.

If I’m honest, I was disappointed with Forza 7, as it just didn’t feel that much better than the Xbox 360 games I fell in love with. It may have been technically still the best simulator on console, but it didn’t feel ‘next gen’. Now the game has been completely rebooted and designed for the next generation of consoles only. Check it out.

Al the footage here is in game and it looks absolutely stunning. This truly feel like a next gen simulator for the first time. The physics were always great in Forza games, and the customization. However, backgrounds on tracks were always, just kinda there. These tracks now feel more alive and we even see a real pit crew changing the tires, which was something I hated not having in the last game.

Unlike Starfield this is a game I can play when I’m in the mood for something a bit different. I can just work away at my own pace across a longer period of time. In other words I can keep up with my current gaming obsessions and still add in Forza Motorsport. I just hope the game really lives up to how good it’s looking so far.

I’ve missed you Forza Motorsport, welcome back on October 10.

Clockwork Revolution

Clockwork Revolution is definitely not coming out this year, and it doesn’t really have much hype going in. However, as first party Xbox games go, this one made me sit up and take notice.

Yet, I think the real reason it made me sit up and take notice was the fact I thought I was look at a first reveal of a new Bioshock game. I mean, if you’ve played Bioshock: Infinite before, then tell me this trailer doesn’t steal so much from that game.

I think this looks cool, though we do need to see real gameplay and not just CGI cutscenes to judge it. However, there is no doubting the many similarities between this and the aforementioned Bioshock: Infinite. It could literally be called Bioshock: Infinite 2, with this trailer and I’d believe you.

I’m sure the games and stories will be quite different, but damn.

There is a Bioshock 4 game in development, and I actually hope the setting is completely new this time around. That game will excite me more than Clockwork Revolution, but if this games ends up being a decent play, I will gladly lap it up. Still, doesn’t change the fact they copied so many ideas from Infinite it’s scary.

Clockwork Revolution doesn’t have a release date yet beyond 2024.

What do you think of the trailers for Starfield, Forza Motorsport and Clockwork Revolution? Those were my Xbox showcase highlights, what were yours? Thoughts below as always.
