Disney+ has unveiled the first trailer and key art for the highly anticipated new original series, “Star Wars: The Acolyte.” Fans were treated to a glimpse of the thrilling live-action series, set to launch on Tuesday, June 4, with the release of its first two episodes, exclusively on the streaming platform.
“Star Wars: The Acolyte” delves into an intriguing narrative, as an investigation into a shocking crime spree sets the stage for a gripping showdown. The series follows a respected Jedi Master portrayed by Lee Jung-jae, who finds himself entangled in a dangerous conflict with a formidable warrior from his past, played by Amandla Stenberg. As the storyline unfolds, viewers are taken on a dark journey where sinister forces lurk beneath the surface, challenging the characters’ perceptions of reality.
The ensemble cast features an array of talent, including Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss, promising a diverse and compelling portrayal of characters within the Star Wars universe.
Created by Leslye Headland, the series is based on the iconic Star Wars franchise envisioned by George Lucas. Headland also serves as an executive producer alongside industry veterans Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef. Charmaine DeGraté and Kor Adana join as co-executive producers, while Rayne Roberts, Damian Anderson, Eileen Shim, and Rob Bredow take on production roles.
