Art reflects life, reflects art and it seems Guardians really do make their own fate as Destiny 2 isn’t over after all. It was only months ago that we received word that Destiny 2 was getting a final end of service update. Fans were initially upset that no announcement was made for any new games in the franchise more than they were to see D2 end as a live service.
The final update dropped and boy did they cook. Since June 9 this year I have been play as much as can to collect everything before signing off that final time. Yet the campaign towards Sony, who owns Bungie and the Destiny IP has been relentless. Sony and even non-Sony gaming events have been spammed by the likes of ‘Save Destiny‘ and ‘Make D3‘. However, perhaps the most compelling evidence that Sony boobed was the number of players who came back and spent money for this final update.
Then, around just over 2-3 weeks ago some of the biggest Destiny content creators started teasing that something might be happening. No one would say what, because nothing was seemingly set in stone. Then yesterday, the news broke that Destiny was not dead after all.
Destiny 2 And The Future
Destiny 2 is getting some confirmed old content that was cut placed back in, that’s been promised. When and how have yet to be revealed.
The content coming back should make the end game state we have now complete. A move that will surely attract more players to pick up this monstrously sized game in it’s collection state. Some fans who felt cheated out of content they had already paid for vowed never to return until Bungie brought it back. Some of those are now happy to come back to the franchise and catch up on what they missed.
For now we have no real details on how this will work. Will it just be there for nostalgia and the new player experience or will there be reasons for vets to go and replay the content that’s returning?

What about brand new Destiny content?
Now, we are not sure what yet to expect here, yet. Bungie seems to be teasing early development on some new games in the video and text article I will share below. However there could be content that was in development for Destiny 2 that comes back, that’s I guess the hope and we wait to see on that front.
However, Bungie clearly state that destiny as a franchise is not going anywhere, we just don’t have the details yet on what exactly that means. First steps first, restoring that cut content and restoring trust with gamers who paid for that content.

Other than that, we watch this space, if nothing else, there is more content coming to Destiny 2, even if it is cut content we already paid for. However, it proves that Guardians really do make their own fate and saved their game and maybe an entire studio from death.
