News/Barside Buzz as Ben Wang the favourite to land Iceman in X-Men, plus some more Marvel casting rumors around that film and others. Let’s begin with the news from Deadline that Ben Wang is the hot favourite right now to land the role of Bobby Drake (Iceman) in the X-Men reboot.

As per the trade,

‘Ahead of the release of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, where he plays District 12 tribute Wyatt Callow, Ben Wang has entered talks to play Iceman in Marvel Studios‘ new X-Men movie, sources tell Deadline.’

‘Reps for Marvel couldn’t be reached for comment. While unconfirmed, we’ve heard Gabriel LaBelle, Jackson Kelly and Rhenzy Feliz are among other actors who tested for the part.’

Talks does not mean signed, as we’ll get to below, but it seems it’s in his hands.

Now onto some rumors and we’ll start with Knight Edge Media‘s Caleb Williams who reported this after the Wang news dropped.

‘We at Knight Edge Media only heard one plot point: Bobby Drake will already be at the X-Mansion and is expected to be the first mutant to meet Jean Grey (Sadie Sink).’

Meanwhile, Alex P seems to be hinting that Moira MacTaggert, then Gambit and finally Beast are still to come. At least… I think, just use words next time fella.

Love it.
Next up: Moira.

Then, rumor has it: 🃏 & 💙😈 https://t.co/LksG6J16H9

Williams seems to agree about Gambit still to be cast,

Small Tidbit…theres a possibility Gambit has a small role in #XMen and they have been casting for it since September when I first heard the possibility. Not 100% sure though.

So no Channing Tatum with Inde Naverette but more age appropriate pic.twitter.com/WzyPHEYWdP

As for Beast, the trades said Peter Claffey was in talks, though Williams claimed he was signed. Williams has now walked that back and apologised as per this post,

Small Update: So everyone is asking “What is going on with Peter Claffey as Beast?”

From what I understand the deal isn’t final like I thought from my sources. That is my bad BUT he is 100% still the favorite for the role and still “in talks” technically as of last week https://t.co/GUXnxLcjcY

It’s still likely Claffey takes it though.

Finally, we have a non-X-Men casting rumor from Daniel RPK on his Patreon who says Jess Gabor has been cast in a recurring role in season 3 of Daredevil: Born Again. Saw some people online wonder if that meant big reshoots? No, we sometimes find out someone was cast long after principal has finished. The terminology stays the same, ‘xxx xx has been cast in’ rather than ‘xxx xxx was cast in’. Sorry, I didn’t make the rules.

Let us know what you think of these casting news and rumors in the usual spot below.
