It’s a brand new year, and to celebrate the occasion, Aquaman director James Wan took to Twitter to share a new photo teasing the upcoming film.
Check it out below:
Of course, as with all things, it didn’t take long for fans to start speculating as to what the photo could actually mean for the movie. One such fan flew the theory that Wan could be teasing that Aquaman could have a hook hand in a film — never mind the fact that we’ve seen two photos of him in the film, and he has a hook hand in neither of them.

Wan was quick to debunk that theory:

Sorry, folks. Aquaman won’t be having a hook hand this time around. But maybe, just maybe, it’ll come in the future (it probably won’t).
This year’s Aquaman is set to be kind of a big deal. It’s the first film to hit theaters in the DC Extended Universe since Justice League, and the only one to hit in 2018. With that in mind, there is a good deal of pressure on it. Will Warner Bros. be able to prove that there’s still a reason for this shared universe of films to exist? While a good number of people enjoyed Justice League, there’s no avoiding the fact that the general consensus was disappointingly lukewarm, which isn’t where a franchise of this scale wants to be.
We’re excited to see what Wan will bring to the film, as he’s proven himself to be a creative and visionary filmmaker. What do you hope to see out of Aquaman? Sound off down below!
