Do you have any theater pet peeves? If so, do they bother you so bad that you might punch a fellow moviegoer in the face? Yeah, it sounds like a massive overreaction, but that’s what reportedly happened over the weekend during a showing of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in Canada.
Joe Bond (no relation to Agent 007 that we’re aware of) and his wife attended a 7:30 showing of the film and trouble started early when a fellow moviegoer, who from this point forward we shall refer to as “phoneman,” went on a rant aimed at people using their phones to record the beginning of the film.
While the man was ranting, Bond felt his own phone go off and had to check it, making sure it wasn’t their babysitter. When Bond saw the message wasn’t from the babysitter he put his phone back in his pocket. That’s when phoneman reportedly went over the edge and began yelling and ranting. Bond told the man to relax and says the man then punched him in the face. You can check out a video of the incident below, but in case you’re at work or somewhere that you need to keep your phone quiet (such as a movie theater) I’ve pulled one of phoneman’s more colorful quotes
“Turn your phones OFF. Use your f**king heads. Welcome to the 21st century. You f**king losers with your f**king phones. I waited a g**damn year for this, so some asshole can turn his phone on next to me?!”

Phoneman was eventually escorted out of the theater and the film had to be restarted. While it’s a big-time no-no to play on your phone during a movie, there are certain situations where people have to check them. As long as it’s not excessive or disruptive, no one really makes a big deal out of it, well, except this guy.
