Star Wars – The Origin Of Rey And Kylo Ren’s Force Connection

One thing about Disney’s sequel trilogy is the Force connection between Rey and Kylo Ren. The Force Awakens viewers knew of the bond between the two. As it turns out, their shared feelings through the Force started long before the trilogy’s first film.

The new Star Wars comic, The Rise of Kylo Ren #4, goes into detail on this. After the destruction of Luke Skywalker’s Jedi temple, Kylo attempts to rescue fellow Jedi from the clutches of Ren, who originally led the knights. Ren them snaps one of the Jedi’s necks, pushing Kylo into a Dark Side rage that ends with him killing Ren.

The display causes a huge Force wave to be felt by many across the galaxy, including Unkar “half portion” Plutt and yes the desert scavenger and trilogy heroine, Rey. This would be the earliest interaction through the Force for the two. While this revelation adds to Rey and Kylo’s story, I again wish this is something we would have learned during the films, and not from another medium.
