Anthony Mandler in Talks to Direct ‘The Last Days of American Crime’

Commercial and music video director Anthony Mandler is in negotiations to make his feature directorial debut with “The Last Days of American Crime.”

The film will be based on a graphic novel written by Rick Remender and published by Radical Publishing. It is set in an American future, in which the government just developed the technology to re-program our brains and erase all criminal behaviors. The story examines the final days before the technology with a man who is very much willing to break the law.

Remender wrote the firsts draft of the script and currently being rewritten by Karl Gajdusek (“Trespass,” “Dead Like Me” television series).

As for Mandler, he has directed music videos for Rihanna, Jay-Z and Eminem and commercials with David Beckham. His name is also attached to another film called “Vlad,” a vampire saga from Lionsgate.

Actress Noomi Rapace was previously attached to the project, but there is no updated word if she is still on the project.
