Get Ready, Cause RIDE ALONG 3 Is A Thing That’s Happening!

The first Ride Along was a runaway success when it came out in 2014. The $25 Million buddy action comedy pulled in $135 Million domestically. Despite the fact that the film was very paint-by-numbers, people simply loved the chemistry between stars Kevin Hart and Ice Cube. A sequel was inevitable. Ride Along 2 came out earlier this year, and the $40 Million follow-up pulled in $90 Million domestically. If you’ve noted that diminishing return, you’re not alone. And yet today we learned that they’re going to push on with a Ride Along 3.

During an interview with Tim Story, the director of both Ride Along films, The Wrap learned that a third film was in the works. “We’re writing the script right now. We’re writing away and basically, I’m waiting to see some pages and we’re excited for the idea and what it can be and of course bringing Kevin and Ice Cube back together because they are the greatest odd couple in the world,” he revealed. “I’m impatiently waiting for a script to be given to me. We have some great ideas.

So it sounds like Ride Along 3 is still in its infancy, at the scripting stage. If I had to guess, Universal is probably eyeing a January 2018 release for the film.
