Duncan Jones, the director of Moon and Source Code, and son of David Bowie, has had to bow out of an upcoming biopic about James Bond creator Ian Fleming. See, he was attached to direct the film after completing his big screen adaptation of World of Warcraft, however, with the latest shake-ups in that production’s timeline, he’s had to leave Fleming. The video game adaptation, Warcraft, is going to keep him busy for the next two years and the folks behind Fleming don’t want to wait that long. Perhaps in an effort to capitalize on the success of Skyfall, which was the highest-grossing Bond film to date, the producers are now in a mad dash to find a director that’s ready to hit the ground running.
The movie will be based on a biography of the late Fleming that was written by Andrew Lycett. It’s said to explore the writer’s actual work as an international spy, where he had the experiences that informed the Bond novels he would later write.
As of now, no release date has been announced for Fleming. Warcraft, on the other hand, is now locked into a December 18, 2015 premiere.
