No Mercy.
Get him a body bag.
Sweep the Leg.
Miyagi Fix.
A few of the the more quotable lines from a quinessential film of te 1980s.
A brilliant bit of marketing here for the upcoming season of last year’s surprise hit Cobra Kai. As the original film from which the series was born, The Karate Kid, gets it’s own mockumentary style episode (with a much shorter runtime) of ESPN’s 30 for 30.
I really do enjoy mockumentaries such as this, and it’s a plus that this was so well done. And it wouldn’t be a bad thing for more sports movies to be given this treatment. The film is a classic example of the feel-good, triumphant underdog movie that was prevelent during the 80s.

There are people that truly think Johnny Lawrence is the Karate Kid, and that Daniel was the villain, the first time I heard this concept was from a fictional character, that of Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother. Though there has to be real folks out there that share this belief, right?
Again, what a clever way to promote Season 2 of Cobra Kai, a season that appears as if it’s going to give us the long overdue LaRusso vs. Lawrence rematch.
Season 2 of Cobra Kai will be available on YouTubeRed April 24.
