A Chat With Director Kevin Notling On His Disney/Pixar Short 22 Vs. Earth [Exclusive Interview]

Earth vs 22

Big weekend for the Disney/Pixar animated feature Soul. This past Sunday the film earned two Academy Awards including Best Original Score and Best Animated Feature. No doubt that this film’s message about our identity mixed in with the smooth jazz captivated so many people around the world. In that feature, we were introduced to a stubborn character named 22, voiced by the great Tina Fey. It is an understatement to say that she still hadn’t figured out who she was and wanted to part of Earth. But was she always like that?

22 vs Earth

Thanks to Disney/Pixar we can take a closer look at 22, in the short feature, 22 vs Earth. With its announcement today we are pleased to not only share with you the trailer but an interview with the director of 22 vs Earth, Kevin Nolting You can check out a clip and more information about the feature down below! As well as the exclusive interview!

Here is the synopsis for 22 vs Earth:

Set before the events of Disney and Pixar’s “Soul,” 22 defies the rules of The Great Before and refuses to go to Earth, enlisting a gang of five other new souls in her attempt at rebellion. However, as her cohorts’ activities lead to unexpected results, 22’s subversive plot may actually lead to a surprising revelation about the meaning of life.

With the announcement of the film, LRM Online had the opportunity to talk with Kevin Nolting about 22 vs Earth. He is no stranger to Pixar as he has been with the studio since 2000. Most recently he served as the Lead Editor for Soul. We talk about 22 and her rebellion against Earth and how we can find ourselves in the most unexpected places. I could not help myself but ask him what the meaning of life was. But for more on that, you will have to tune into the interview down below!
