A Clown, A Crowbar, And A Red Hood – HBO Max’s Titans Teaser Trailer

Looks like HBO Max’s Titans will return for their third season this August. Way back when this series was the first one that premiered exclusively on DC Universe. Now with that platform being rebranded, it has moved to WarnerMedia’s streaming service HBO Max for its third season. Yesterday we got an exciting first look at what comes next for our young heroes. You can check it out below!

Titans is already a dark series. But with our characters heading to Gotham City, it’s about to get even darker. One of the biggest draws of the third season has been the introduction of Red Hood, played by Curran Walters. For the past two seasons, he has played Jason Todd/Robin. This teaser trailer for Titans focuses a lot on him.

Todd discovers what looks to be dead security with a grin on his face. If you recall Jason Todd’s history in comics this is a very bad thing. The fact that it happens in an amusement park with what looks like a sort of fortune teller machine behind him, maybe a nod to The Killing Joke. We then proceed to see a shocking scene of what looks to be the Joker beating Jason with a crowbar.

As most know, in comics Jason Todd is then killed by the Joker. Only to be brought back by the Lazarus Pit. He then returns as The Red Hood and attempts to bring justice to Gotham in a more violent and direct way. It will be interesting to see what direction Titans takes in this story. It seems like they are going to tweak quite a bit of the source material to fit the story. The big question is, are we going to get to see the Joker? Or is it just going to be a silhouette? Does he actually die? Or just get beaten badly?

Along with that intriguing storyline, we are also going to be introduced to Savannah Welch as Barbara Gordon. We find her as the commissioner of Gotham PD. As well as their version of Scarecrow aka Jonathan Crane played by Vincent Kartheiser. Ana Diop’s Starfire will be sporting a new look and her sister Blackfire, played by Damaris Lewis, will have a bigger presence.

The rest of the familiar faces are also back including Beast Boy played by Ryan Potter. Hawk played by Alan Ritchson, Dove played by Minka Kelly. Superboy played by Joshua Orpin and Iain Glen’s Bruce Wayne.

Hopefully, with going to Gotham, this series can finally get a little more consistent. I think that Titans made a mistake by having their season one finale as the first episodes of season two. Then the season proceeded to be a roller coaster of good episodes and bad ones. By the end of the season, I was very disappointed. Despite that, I am still rooting for this series to get back on track!

HBO Max’s Titans will premiere on Thursday, August 12th with three episodes.
