ABC Open To LOST Reboot

Remember LOST? Oh, man that show was one for the ages. Back when standard episodic TV was a thing, it dared to be unabashedly serialized. It brought water cooler discussion to a whole generation of TV watchers and was at least partially instrumental for the current age of TV we live in. Personally, I was more of a 24 guy myself, but even I can’t deny its impact on fandom at the time.

LOST was a show that seemed to sell itself as a mystery-thriller set on an island, but as audiences made their way through the episodes, it became clear that there was a lot more to it than just a typical plane crash Lord of the Flies scenario (which is totally what I was expecting). But, as far as TV goes, it is definitely a show of its era, for better and worse, and along with virtually every other project under the sun, it seems prime for an eventual reboot.

And no, I’m not even kidding. Hell, even ABC programming chief Karey Burke was hopeful that it could happen.

“I would like that very much. That is a reboot I would be interested in seeing.”

But is this actually something that’s actively in the works? The comment certainly prompted some interest while at the TV Critics Association press tour, but the enthusiasm was promptly quashed when it was revealed there were currently no actual plans to bring this to the small screen.

As it stands, the comments were more of an enthusiastic response than anything else. But what do you think of this? Do you get excited at the prospect of a LOST reboot? Can the show be tackled in a more interesting way with today’s TV sensibilities? Sound off in the comments!
