Cult British comedy ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS is getting a big screen adaptation. The film will reunite series stars Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley, who first played the parts in a 1990 sketch on the show French & Saunders. The sketch was such a hit that it led to a full-on sitcom based on their characters, Edina and Patsy. ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS ran from 1992 to 1996, and had a few special reunion episodes in 2011 and 2012. It looks like those reunion specials garnered enough interest to bring us a full-fledged major motion picture.
ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS: THE MOVIE will bring together all of the original main cast, and is being directed by Mandie Fletcher. The film now has an international trailer, which you can see right here:
The ever glamourous and self-indulgent Patsy and Edina find themselves at the centre of a media firestorm, when Edina seemingly accidentally kills Kate Moss.
ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS: THE MOVIE has attracted a bevy of celebrity cameos, including Jon Hamm, Rebel Wilson, Gwendoline Christie, Kim Kardashian, Cara Delevingne, Emma Bunton, and Harry Styles. The film is slated to come out stateside on July 22.
