Acapulco from Apple TV+ | Fernando Carsa Tells Us About His Experience In His First Feature Role As Memo [Exclusive Interview]

Today is the premiere of Apple TV+’s Acapulco on their streaming service. It’s a fun English and Spanish comedy series starring one of my heroes in entertainment, Eugenio Derbez. He is also executive producer for the series. I have followed his career since I was old enough to watch La Hora Derbez. He took a big chance in going over to American films and television and with a lot of hard work has been very successful.

In Acapulco, Derbez plays Maximo Gallardo. In his older days, he tells the story of his younger days where he is played by Enrique Arrizon. A time where he was in his early twenties and gets the job of his dreams as a cabana boy at one of the most prestigious resorts in Acapulco. But he soon finds out that the job is a lot more challenging than he expected. Also, that things aren’t always as glamorous as they seem. This leads to so many fun and entertaining stories that we will be enjoying in this series.

But every protagonist needs a loving, motivational friend to help them along the way. This is where Memo comes into the picture who is played by Fernando Carsa. Memo shines in the series as Maximo’s naive yet confident friend that seems to always see the glass half full. In Acapulco, he also gets a job at the resort but ends up working in the laundry room.

With the release of Acapulco on Apple TV+, LRM Online’s Emmanuel Gomez spoke with Fernando Carsa. It’s important to note that this is his feature debut on television/film. Born and Mexico and brought to California, he and his family worked hard to be able to now be a UCLA graduate and now starring in his first role. He tells us how excited he is about the opportunity and what it means to him. Also, we learn more about Memo. As well as what series like these mean for representation in the Latin community. It’s a fun conversation that you can check out below!

Here is the synopsis for Acapulco

A journey back to the 80s through the memories of Máximo (Eugenio Derbez) will prove that even at the glamorous hotel Las Colinas, all that glitters is not gold. Watch Acapulco on October 8, only on Apple TV+.

Acapulco tells the story of twenty-something Máximo Gallardo (Enrique Arrizon), whose dream comes true when he gets the job of a lifetime as a cabana boy at the hottest resort in Acapulco. He soon realizes the job is far more complicated than he ever imagined and in order to succeed, he must learn to navigate a demanding clientele, a mercurial mentor, and a complicated home life, without losing his way to shortcuts or temptations. The series, which is told in both Spanish and English, takes place in 1984, with Derbez narrating and playing the present-day version of the main character, Máximo Gallardo.

Apple TV’s Acapulco is now streaming on their platform.
