Actor Teases Transformation As The Leader In Captain America: Brave New World

Actor Tim Blake Nelson teases his transformation as The Leader in Captain America: Brave New World. Blake Nelson spoke with ComicBookMovie recently and teased that he had some time in the make-up department for his return to the MCU. Blake Nelson played Samuel Sterns in The Incredible Hulk, a scientist trying to help Bruce Banner. However, he was clearly a bit keen on the see what happens approach to science. Sterns was partly responsible for Abomination and last we saw him he had some of Banner’s blood drip onto his head and start to change him.

That was 2008, and since we missed 5 year’s roughly that’s over 18 years in MCU time. So what has Sterns been up to since we saw that tease? Who knows? However, we will find out in Captain America: Brave New World, currently scheduled for February 2025 and filming reshoots recently.

Whether Sterns will look like he did in The Incredible Hulk, or what he looks like in the image above, we could not say? However, based on Blake Nelson’s comments to the outlet linked, it sounds like he won’t look like nothing happened.

“Really excited. I had a great time filming it,” Nelson told us. “And [I] worked with the Marvel team and this wonderful makeup artist named David Atherton with whom I’ve collaborated on a dozen movies now.”

“I think people are going to be pretty excited about what this guy looks like. And what he has to say and what he does,” he teased. “All power to the amazing team over there at Marvel.”

That does not necessarily mean The Leader is green, but I’m sure there are some practical prosthetics on show. If it was me making this, I think I’d have a transition across the movie. Perhaps Sterns begins as someone who just has a big head. However, by the end, based on his experiments I’d have him transition into something resembling the comic book version.

I’d also make him really small though, which may not be a popular or easy choice. For the record I doubt that approach will be taken. Plus there are many comic book runs where The Leader is just a normal sized man, with an oversized head, and green skin. I just always liked the tiny version personally.

What are your hopes for the return of The Leader? What do you think of his comments as Tim Blake Nelson teases his transformation as The Leader in Captain America: Brave New World? Thoughts below as always.
