The 2019 Academy Awards Ceremony is still without a host, after comedian Kevin Hart dropped out last month. Hart was set to host the event until controversy arose due to tweets from his past that were deemed offensive. Hart removed himself as host and refused to apologize, stating he had already issued an apology for the tweets, however he did eventually apologize again.
After a recent appearance on The Ellen Show, it seems that Hart may be considering returning as the host of the event. Ellen contacted the Academy on Hart’s behalf, here’s how she describes the conversation.
“I called them (the Academy). I said, ‘Kevin’s on, I have no idea if he wants to come back and host, but what are your thoughts?’ And they were like, ‘Oh my God, we want him to host. We feel like that maybe he misunderstood or it was handled wrong or maybe we said the wrong thing but we want him to host. Whatever we can do we would be thrilled. And he should host the Oscars.’”

It appears as if Hart is up giving the idea a second thought.
“Leaving here, I promise you I’m evaluating this conversation. Let me assess, just sit in the space and really think, and you and I will talk before anything else.”
From Ellen’s description of her conversation with the Academy, it sounds like the job is Hart’s if he wants it, and from what Hart had to say there seems to be a decent chance he is going to return as host, at the very least he is thinking about it.
