Aladdin – Mena Massoud Talks Guy Ritchie’s Presence On The Set

Guy Ritchie, the director of Disney’s latest animated classic to get the live-action treatment, isn’t realyl the first name that comes to mind when one hears the word Disney. Ritchie is known for his wildly clever and well-written British gangster films, as well as the wonderful new (still sort of new?) Sherlock Holmes films.

The actor who takes the role of the title character in Ritchie’s new film, Mena Massoud, recently spoke at the film’s press conference about the sort of atmosphere that Ritchie creates on the sets of his films. You can check out what he had to say below.

I think the beautiful thing that Guy does on set is that he creates a sense of family and community and everybody feels free to create and bring their take on it. And then he kind of molds it from there. But he allows us to play. And I think that’s something that no one else could have done as well as Guy.”

I really enjoy off all Ritchie’s films (except Swept Away) and I see no reason why he teaming up with the House of mouse would be a bad thing. Ritchie is the man who directed what is probably my favorite non-franchise film of all time, Snatch. And while I would be watching this film no matter who was directing it, Ritchie’s presence on the project does add an aspect of intrigue for me.
