Years from now, Alan Kim should look at Minari as the film that launched the young actor into stardom.
With plenty of rave reviews, Minari is one of the most talked-about and adored films into the awards season. Recently, the Golden Globes nominated the film for Best Foreign Language Feature.
For Alan Kim, he received a nod for the Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Young Performer and Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. That’s only the early nominations so far.
Kim plays the young son, David, in his film debut. He stars alongside Steven Yeun and Yeri Han, who plays his parents in the film. Other cast members also included Noel Kate Cho, Yuh-Jung Youn, and Will Patton. Lee Isaac Chung wrote and directed this beautiful film.
Here’s the official synopsis:
A tender and sweeping story about what roots us, Minari follows a Korean-American family that moves to an Arkansas farm in search of their own American Dream. The family home changes completely with the arrival of their sly, foul-mouthed, but incredibly loving grandmother. Amidst the instability and challenges of this new life in the rugged Ozarks, Minari shows the undeniable resilience of family and what really makes a home.
