Spanish actress Alicia Sanz wanted a strong female role that displays a certain physical prowess against her adversaries. Well, she found it in the horror movie The Devil Below.
The creature feature movie has a small group of scientists battling for survival against a small army of man-eating cave-dwelling monsters. Once again, humans always ignore the warning signs until it’s too late.
Sanz stars alongside Adan Canto, Will Patton, Zach Avery, Chinaze Uche, Jonathan Sadowski, and Jesse LaTourette. Bradley Parker directed the movie from the screenplay written by Eric Scherbarth and Stefan Jaworski.
Here’s the official synopsis:
There is an abandoned place nestled deep in the Appalachian country where underground coal mines have been ablaze for decades. When a team of researchers tries to find out how the fires started, they soon discover something more startling than the mystery that sent them there—they’re not alone.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta chatted with actress Alicia Sanz on taking the lead role in the horror movie. She talked about the caverns, wilderness, monsters on set, and overcoming her fear of heights.
Alicia Sanz started acting at a very young age by taking classes at the Dramatic Center of Ceuta in Spain. She landed her first role at the age of eight. At the age of 18, she studied in the acting school of Juan Carlos Corazza in Spain. In 2010, she made her television debut as Lucia Elizondo Cortes in Gavilanes. Later, she continued working in dramas such as Bandolera, Amar es para Siempre, and Con el Culo al Aire. She made her United States debut with Robert Rodriguez’s television series From Dusk Till Dawn. Currently, she is in the Amazon Original series El Cid.
