In this writers opinion, The Expanse is one of the best shows on TV. It’s a proper hard-core sci-fi that just ticks all the boxes for me. Like many other fans I was horrified to discover that Syfy had cancelled the show after Season 3. But of course, as we now know, the show was saved by Amazon Prime and production on Season 4 of the show is moving ahead, thankfully.
Now thanks to The Wrap, we have learned that Amazon has announced that Season 3 of The Expanse is set to be available to Amazon Subscribers beginning February 8th. Previously only Season’s 1 and 2 were available on the platform and that was just the US, with other territories having different deals. For example, here in the UK Season’s 1 and 2 were on Netflix and not Amazon Prime. But with Amazon’s purchase of the show the international rights will revert to them and starting in February all 3 seasons will be available to all Amazon Prime subscribers across the world.
Amazon has also revealed that Season 4 of the show, the first to be made by Amazon, will be arriving on the service in 2019. We don’t have any specific dates, but logic would have us guess that we are talking later into this year, possibly not until Fall or Winter. It does make sense for Amazon to start streaming the first three seasons to try and build up a viewership for the show before Season 4 hits.
So far I have yet to come across someone who has stuck with the show and not fallen in love with it. It really is for me one of the best shows on TV, the production quality of the show along with the deep and sophisticated plots make it a must watch show for me. So if you have never tried it yet and you subscribe to Amazon Prime, then you should really think about checking this out when it all becomes available on February 8th.
If Amazon reveals a solid release date for Season 4, or we get any other information about the next season of the show, we will be sure to share it with you readers.
