Garth Ennis’s The Boys is about a month away from making it’s small screen debut on Amazon Prime Video. The comic book series which was originally published by Wildstorm 2006 then moved over to Dynamite Entertainment takes place in a world where like in many comic books, superheroes exist, but most of the “superheroes” in this world are corrupted by their celebrity status that often leads them to behave recklessly with no consequences. The Boys, lead by Billy Butcher are on a mission to expose these superheroes. Today Amazon Prime Video have released a almost two and a half minute trailer that is definitely NSFW, as it is very violent. You check check it out above!

As you can see the trailer features the tragic backstory of Wee Hughie, played by Jack Qauid as we can see his girlfriend get brutally killed by a speeding superhero that tries to justify accidentally killing her before he runs off. The rest of the trailer features some of the other characters as well as a lot more violence, curse words and a inspiring pep talk that uses the Spice Girls which leads to their hit single If You Want to Be My Lover playing in the background of the trailer.

Joining Billy Butcher and Hughie on the squad are Mother’s Milk, played by Laz Alonso, Frenchie, played by Tomer Capon and The Female, played by Karen Fukuhara. On the other side of the battle line are The Seven which are lead by Homelander, played by Anthony Starr, Starlight, played by Erin Moriarty, Queen Maeve, played by Dominique McElligott, A-Train, played by Jessie T. Usher, The Deep, played by Chace Crawford and Black Noir, played by Nathan Mitchell.

The Boys was developed by showrunner Eric Kripke who is also on as a writer, executive producer and director of the season finale. Also on as executive producers are Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogan, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver, Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Ori Marmur along with Ken Levin and Jason Netter.
