It’s definitely a good sign when the boss renews you for a third season when you’re still filming Season 2.
That’s exactly what the head of Amazon Studios Jennifer Salke did Wednesday at the Television Critics Association event, announcing the renewal of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan for a third season, as reported by Deadline. The popular series, starring John Krasinski (A Quiet Place, The Office), Wendell Pierce (Selma, The Wire) and Abbie Cornish (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Seven Psychopaths), is currently filming its second season. The first season premiered on the streaming service on August 31st of last year.
The series focuses on military vet-turned CIA analyst Jack Ryan (Krasinski) who uncovers a pattern of terrorist communications and is thrust into the dangerous field operation alongside his division director James Greer (Pierce). Relying on both his analyst skills and his prior military training, Ryan maneuvers through Europe and the Middle East, attempting to stop a terrorist attack on a global scale. In season two, Ryan will be focusing on a dangerous regime in South America.

Since first showing his dramatic and action skills in 13 Hours, Krasinski has continued to prove that he can do much more than just the comedy he was known for in The Office. Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan delivers the tense and thrilling “ticking time bomb” suspense that is expected from the genre, but told through the lives of relatable characters who aren’t impervious to emotion or human error. It is one part action/suspense, one part emotional drama, blending into a well-rounded, entertaining series.
No release date has been set for Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan season two.
