Anchorman: Director Adam McKay On What A Third Film Might Be About

A third Anchorman? While it isn’t likely to happen, director Adam McKay, who directed the first two Anchorman films, recently spoke with CinemaBlend, and talked about what a potential third installment into the franchise may look like.

“I can give you like a little half sentence. I don’t know if you remember the first and even the second Iraq war. Maybe it was mainly the second Iraq war. They embedded journalists and that gave us kind of a whole story idea… I don’t want to say too much, but I’ll just tell you that embedded journalist, Ron Burgundy, Veronica Corningstone, the news team. That definitely gave us a big idea.”

While I enjoyed the sequel for what it was, this sounds like a far better idea then the story of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. And I actually wish they would have went with this story. Can you imagine Burgandy adjusting to life in the middle east? Would likely be hilarious.

Some people love Will Ferrell, and some people hate him. I am in the group that loves him. It goes without saying that I would be totally onboard for this. Ferrell honed his craft as a cast member on Saturday Night Live, before graduating to the level of feature films.
