The Andor Season 2 directors have been revealed by showrunner Tony Gilroy. The Star Wars shows Season 1 is streaming right now on Disney+, you’ll find a link to my latest review below. Gilroy who will serve as showrunner in Season 2 also, recently spoke with Collider and in that chat he revealed the directors who will be helming the episodes of Season 2.
During an interview with Collider’s own Steve Weintraub, Gilroy shared that a brand new slate of directors will be joining to direct Season 2, and he didn’t hold back on revealing their names. We’re excited to share that Ariel Kleiman, Janus Metz, and Alonso Ruizpalacios have been tapped to direct episode blocks in the second season.
As you likely already know, Andor Season 1 was filmed in three episode story chunks. At first I was slightly critical of the approach, but, when the eating’s this good, sometimes you have to wait between courses. The outlet revealed that Kleiman would be the one to direct two blocks of episodes in another 12-episode Season.

All three directors have various TV credits for some popular shows. However, I won’t deny I am slightly disappointed none of the directors from Season 1 are back. Much as Andor is a credit to the screenwriters, showrunner’s vision etc, some of the direction has been exceptional. I’m hopeful that the new folks will have watched Andor Season 1 and that the mood will continue. Andor so far has some of the best visuals, sound design and writing of any Star Wars project. The whole team deserves a tremendous amount of credit.
And yet, so far, Andor isn’t all that popular among the Star Wars fan base as a whole. Almost every review I’ve written has comments saying they cannot believe I like it, as it’s boring. I guess it depends on your taste? Andor isn’t light entertainment, it’s an adult drama set in the Star Wars universe and so far it has for provided some wonderful story telling scenarios. I look forward to it every Wednesday when I finish work.
Ergo, I do wonder if we will veer get anything this good (to me) again? At least we are definitely getting Season 2.
What do you think as the Andor Season 2 directors have been revealed by showrunner Tony Gilroy? Thoughts below as always.
