George Lopez is back for a family sitcom. Quite literally, with his real-life daughter in Lopez Vs. Lopez on NBC.

Lopez stars alongside his daughter Mayan Lopez in the comedy series as they navigate their lives by rebuilding their relationship through comedy.

The series also stars Selenis Leyva, Al Madrigal, Matt Shively, and Brice Gonzalez. Debby Wolfe serves as the showrunner and executive producer.

George Lopez is back in primetime and bringing his real-life daughter, Mayan. This hilarious and heartwarming comedy tells the story of a working-class old-school Latino who moves in with his modern Gen Z daughter as they rebuild their dysfunctional relationship one argument at a time. It’s old vs. new, father vs. daughter, Lopez vs. Lopez.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta chatted with the parental character units of the show with George Lopez and Selenis Leyva, who plays the father and mother of Mayan. We talked about family dynamics, comedy, and based many stories and comedies on the real lives of George Lopez and Mayan Lopez.

George Lopez is known for his self-produced ABC sitcom with The George Lopez Show, which ran for six years from 2002 to 2007. Mostly, his stand-up comedy routine is the foundation of his career that examines race and ethnic relationships, particularly with the Mexican-American culture. From 2009 to 2011, he hosted a late-night talk show titled Lopez Tonight on TBS. He starred in many films such as Real Women Have Curves, Naughty or Nice, The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D, The Spy Next Door, El Chicano, Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2, and lent his voice in the animated film Rio.

Selenis Leyva is best known for her role as Gloria Mendoza in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black. She also starred in the Disney+ series Diary of a Future President. In the past, she appeared in several Off-Broadway productions. On television, she had roles in Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Third Watch, The Sopranos, The Good Wife, Girls, and Elementary.

Lopez vs. Lopez premieres on Friday, November 4, on NBC at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
