Andor Season 2 Filming Soon And Returning To Yavin IV

Showrunner Tony Gilroy reveals that Andor Season 2's final three episodes cover the three days before Rogue One.

According to a new report Andor Season 2 is filming soon, very soon. Plus Andor Season 2 will be returning to Yavin IV, which makes sense when you think about the timeline. The reports come from Collider who recently spoke with Andor showrunner Tony Gilroy. In the first of Collider‘s reports, Gilroy stated that production on Andor Season 2 will begin November 21st. This article published on November 8th, so not long now till things kick off back in the U.K.

‘But for Star Wars fans that like to know the specifics of when their favorite shows are filming, Gilroy confirmed that production would begin the Monday before Thanksgiving—so November 21st. He explained that he would be flying out to London to be there for the first shot of the season, before turning around and coming back home for the holiday.’

In the second of Collider‘s articles it was confirmed (unsurprisingly) that Andor Season 2 will see us make a return to Yavin IV. Of course we know that Andor is supposed to take us close to the time when Rogue One begins. In that movie the Rebel base on Yavin IV has already been established. Here’s the report.

In addition to confirming that Ariel Kleiman, Janus Metz, and Alonso Ruizpalacios would be joining to direct, he also shared that his brother Dan Gilroy and Beau Willimon would be returning to write the upcoming season, along with Star Wars newcomer Tom Bissell who is set to join the writer’s room. It was during his praise for Bissell that he revealed Yavin’s presence in Season 2, saying:

“Tom Bissell is really cool and really, really interesting, versatile, really good writer. But also a very, very, very big Star Wars fan, which we really wanted to make sure we had another pro because we’re going into Rogue [One], and we’re going to Yavin, and then we’re going into places where we eventually need to really weave our way back to the source. So Tom came in, and he’s been great. So he’s got some episodes too.”

I’m happy we are 100% getting an Andor Season 2 because frankly Season 1 hasn’t been loved by all the Star Wars fan base. Then, what is these days? Most fellow fans I speak to love it, like I do, however there are those that find it too slow. Some just don’t get the Star Wars feel from Andor, like my sister. Some think it’s the best Star Wars since the originals, like me. I don’t see Lucasfilm rushing out to make more content like Andor, sadly. However. at least we will get Season 2.

What do you think of the news Andor Season 2 is filming soon and returning to Yavin IV? As always, leave your thoughts in the usual spot below.
