Was Andrew Garfield approached by by Kevin Feige (pre-strike) for a role in Secret Wars? Well that is one rumor, but we have an insider disagreement on this one. I have long assumed that both Garfield and Maguire would return for Secret Wars. Given the Multiversal nature of the story being told, it just seems to fit for me.

There have been rumors in the past that Marvel were courted both Maguire and Garfield for Secret Wars. However, this week saw a new rumor that Feige reached out to Garfield pre-strike about Secret Wars. This rumor was then backed up by (in my opinion) a more reliable source. However we then have another insider denying this is the case at all. I love a good leaker fight.

Let’s start at the start. Here is Alex from TCC responding to the initial post from CWGST.

Not sure if Alex is hinting we will see them both again before Secret Wars, or whether it’s just something he’d like. However, this rumor was then vehemently denied by John Campea in the video below.

Campea basically spends the video explaining why bringing back Garfield would make a lot of sense. However he then says he got a text from a contact who he thinks is better than the contacts either leaker above has. This text said the story you see above was 100% false and Campea trusts this source implicitly.

Now, Campea does have a bit of an ego, I think anyone can see that. Hey, he works in Hollywood, it’s what they do. So he’s obviously going to think his sources trump anyone else’s. But that does not mean he’s not 100% correct when he says that. I’m not saying he is either, I have no idea whom I should believe? If i were to judge all three on proven accuracy, then Alex P from TCC comes out top for me. However, bear in mind that dropping scoops is not really what Campea regularly does. Therefore it’s hard to judge this one.

What I will say is that whether Feige did reach out to Garfield or not, I think it will happen and that both he and Maguire will show up in Secret Wars, prob ably with an alt-universe RDJ back for one last Hurrah and maybe even Evans as Cap.
