Remember all the hulabaloo about Andrew Lincoln leaving The Walking Dead at some point during the upcoming season? Well, unfortunately that is still true, however, while he is leaving the show as Rick Grimes, he has plans to return next year to learn the art of directing and hopes to direct a season 10 episode of The Walking Dead. In speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Lincoln had this to say.
“I’m going back. I’m going back to shadow a director, and my intention is to direct next year.”

Good for Andrew Lincoln, he is moving on into other fields as many actors often do. While this is great for Lincoln, it doesn’t help the show that has been dragging on over the last two seasons. Lincoln will make an exit at some point this season, along with Lauren Cohan’s Maggie. Season nine will have a jump in time, as well as provide a different sort of power structure than fans have seen in previous years, Rick seems to be on the outs with old friends, including Darryl and Maggie. How and when they will leave the show remains to be seen, but fans shouldn’t have to wait too much longer as the ninth season of The Walking Dead premieres on AMC October 7.
