Ant-Man And The Wasp Aiming For $70-$80M Debut

Hey guys, another Marvel is hitting theaters this weekend! Yeah, it’s only been a couple short months since Avengers: Infinity War hit theaters, but you know how Marvel Studios works. They seldom give us time to breathe before another flick hits us upside the face — not that it’s a bad thing. Between Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War the studio has been dominating the box-office since February.

But last weekend, Marvel was pushed out of the top 10 at the box-office since Black Panther hit, pretty much cementing this coming weekend as the perfect time to release a new film. Ant-Man and the Wasp is that movie, and based on the critical response to it thus far — including a review from our own Nick Doll — it looks to be another winner. Will the box-office reflect this?

According to a new report from Variety, Ant-Man and the Wasp is headed to a debut between $70 million and $80 million. Should this be the case, it would be a substantial step up from the $57 million debut the original Ant-Man received back in 2015, which went on to make $519 million worldwide. While it’s impossible to predict, it seems it could be off to a start that lands it somewhere in the $800 million range by the end of its theater run, which would be a solid cume for what is probably the least-hyped Marvel superhero.
