Followed returns back to those found footage films that were extremely popular at the turn of the century.

Found footage was a dime a dozen during that decade, but a few diamonds included The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity. These films were quickly produced due to its low and no-budget film style. A lot of its success depends on the storytelling.

And Followed uses the same formula for found footage horror movies that disappeared in recent years. Horror—check! Unwilling victims—check! A mystery to them after footage—check!

From director Antoine Le, the movie follows a social media influence ghost hunting in a creepy hotel.

Here’s the full synopsis:

When aspiring media influencer “DropTheMike” is offered a lucrative sponsorship to grow his channel, he’s joined by his video crew on a visit to one of the most haunted hotels in America, where he’ll give his audience a horrific night of thrill-seeking the likes of which they have never seen before. What begins as a fun investigative challenge, including the infamous Elevator Ritual, quickly descends into a personal hell of true evil, begging the timely question: how far would you go to pursue Internet fame?

This film marks as Antoine Le’s directorial feature film debut. He directed a short film called Bar Union back in 2014.

Tim Drier plays Christopher, one of the crewmembers attached to DroptheMike in the movie. He appeared in various roles in films and television, including American Crime Story, McFarland, USA, and Murder Among Friends.
