Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom Is The Title Of Aquaman 2

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is the title of Aquaman 2 as revealed by director James Wan on Instagram. Being that this is the first Aquaman sequel we didn’t know if WB would go with a subtitle or just call it number 2. However the current fashion is definitely subtitles and I do like this. It kinda feels like an Indiana Jones title to be honest. Though what this title actually means for the plot of the Aquaman sequel remains to be seen.

The working title of the movie is supposedly’ Necrus’. If that is the case, then it is possible the Lost Kingdom referenced in the title is, Necrus. Necrus is from the comics and was a mysterious Black City found in the deepest part of an underwater canyon. This place made only one appearance in an Aquaman comic, so this could be something slightly different in the movie, even if that comic was an inspiration. A militaristic society led by King Mongo, (telegraph for Mongo, telegraph for Mongo) who are pretty much not fans of the surface dwellers. That would certainly put them in conflict with King Arthur of Atlantis who is half Human.

This is all speculation for now, but the title is not. Given that Pilou Asbaek (Game of Thrones) recently joined the sequel in an undisclosed villain role, it could mean he is playing King Mongo. However, this could also be a brand new character who is just using that old Aquaman comic for basic inspiration as we said. I’m not sure that’s the best name for your chief baddy these days, but that’s just me. I am also slightly biased because the term mongo is a horrible one where I come from in Scotland. I won’t get into why as it has nothing to do with DC.

What do you think of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom as the new title of Aquaman 2? Leave any thoughts below as always.
