Aquaman – New Extended TV Spot Focuses on Arthur And Mera

At this point I am starting t wonder if I need to bother going to see Aquaman in theaters, after all, by the time you put all these extended TV spots and trailer together, we kind of have the whole movie anyway, or at least it certainly seems that way.

The latest extended TV spot which you can catch above was released yesterday for the purpose of catching millions of Americans at home for Thanksgiving. I get why they feel the need to really push the marketing for this movie considering how poor Justice League performed at the box office. They cannot afford to have viewers decide to stay at home and catch this when it hits home viewing.

Of course the other side of that coin, is that by spending too much on marketing, like prime time Thanksgiving spots, that WB end up needing the film to make more money to be considered a success. It’s a bit of a Catch-22.

Personally I feel like they have done enough already without this new spot to sell the film to audiences, if they don’t turn up to see it, then for me it shows a lack of confidence in the property born of the poor decisions made in previous movies. But I am hopeful this one will find a market as surely all comic book fans want to see a successful DC Extended Universe?

Aquaman swims his way into theaters on December 21.
