DC’s Aquaman has been the butt of his fair share of jokes over the years (the Family Guy cutaway comes to mind for one). With the film just a few months away, hitting theaters this December, today we are treated to some retro promotional art from the film. The image shows the film’s star, Jason Momoa decked out in the retro Aquaman suit. You can check out the image below.

My only association with the character is the old SuperFriends cartoon, as well as this most recent version with Momoa. I must admit they did a pretty good job modernizing the old suit for Momoa. DC hopes to have another Wonder Woman level film with Aquaman, and going off of early word from the recent screening the just may have something close. The comments from the screening point to a really good, although perhaps not great film. Which among most fans should put it at the top tier of DC films behind Wonder Woman. One lucky person who able to watch the film compared it to the Phase 1 films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and that’s not a bad thing at all.

Aquaman surfaces in theaters on December 14.
