Aquaman: Warners Reportedly Already Talking About A Potential Sequel

Despite the rocky track record Warner Bros. has had with the DC Extended Universe, the future seems to be pretty bright for their next film, Aquaman. While there haven’t been any official reviews yet, there has been plenty of social media reactions for it for those who have had a chance to see it. Warners seems to be confident enough to grant early screenings to Amazon Prime subscribers, and it looks like their confidence isn’t stopping there.

In an extensive profile on Aquaman actress Amber Heard, it is revealed that the studio already has their eyes to the future of this franchise with a potential Aquaman 2. They state that tracking sees the underwater superhero film set to make a strong $65 million debut — better than competitors Mary Poppins Returns and Bumblebee on the domestic front. While not completely off-the-charts, it does seem enough that Warner Bros. pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich feels like it’s worth begin talks of a sequel.

That being said, it’s worth noting this is still the early stages, meaning a writer hasn’t even been hired yet, so it’s worth keeping that in mind. It seems like a lot will ultimately hinge on how this is received and how well it performs at the box office.

If a sequel does go through though, it looks like co-star Amber Heard — who sported a low seven-figure salary in the first film — will get a hefty pay increase.
