Looks like Kung Fury is going all-in on the nostalgia faux-gritty throwback stuff. First, it was confirmed that David Hasselhoff would be taking up a role in the feature, and now TheWrap is reporting that Arnold Schwarzenegger will be joining the fray.

But who will Schwarzenegger be playing? Of course, he’ll be playing the only role he’s meant to play: the president of the United States. Yes, sadly, the action star’s political career may have peaked with a couple of governor terms in California in real life, but fiction is looking to elevate that to the next level.

Of course, Schwarzenegger is a perfect person to cast in this film, as he’s quite the staple of ’80s action films. Between movies like Terminator, Predator, and Total Recall, you can’t really have a true throwback without casting him, right?

Schwarzenegger will be joining Hasselhoff and Michael Fassbender in the film (one of these things is not like the other, right?), and David Sandberg is set to direct.

Kung Fury will be a feature-length action sequel to the original 30-minute Kung Fury short, which you could check out above. The film was an homage to cheesy ’80s cinema, and was the result of over $600,000 in Kickstarter funds.
