My favorite piece of storytelling of all time, Arrested Development, returns to your TV (or computer, laptop, iPad, phone, etc, etc, etc) next Tuesday, May 29.
In a big piece about Arrested Development‘s latest season on Netflix, EW convinced Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz to give a “clue” about where each character is headed in Season 5. Really, these aren’t clues as much as the “mind-set” each character is in, entering the new season.
On the Bluth family’s matriarch, Lucille 1 (Jessica Walter):
“Lucille is in a new relationship, and it’s very unexpected. And she seems guilty in these episodes; she seems like the bad guy to a certain extent. She isn’t — she’s kind of the force that’s keeping the family together.”
And her oldest son, George Oscar Bluth aka GOB (Will Arnett):
“He is on a bit of power trip, and he’s in charge of the company… He’s not the ladies’ man he thought he was — and he might be in love with Tony Wonder.”
The man keeping it all together? Michael Bluth (Jason Bateman):
“Desperate to repair his relationship with his son. There’s just more complication to him — certainly more complication in dealing with his son.”
The Bluth-in-law and former blue man, Tobias Funke:
“Tobias is desperate, desperate to remain in the Bluth family. And they’re done with him… [Also] Tobias has dyed his mustache flesh color to play Michael in this behind-the-scenes family video.”
The youngest of the Bluth siblings, Buster (Tony Hale):
“Buster is accused of something that he can not help but look guilty for. Buster is constantly incriminating himself.”
I’ll leave you with that for now, but if you want to know about what’s up with the rest of the Bluths, including Lindsay (Portia de Rossi), George-Michael (Michael Cera), and Maeby Funke, head over to EW.
