It’s been teased for years. Many of us speculated (and were hopeful) that there could be ties between John Diggle and John Stewart.  There had been subtle nods here and there, and I couldn’t help but think, “are they just doing this to tease the fans, or is there any foundation to this?”

Fans saw the similarities between Diggle and Stewart early on, but this intensified at one point when Diggle met an individual from another earth they asked where his ring was.  The show then sparked the rumor mill again in another episode when Diggle revealed his stepfather’s last name was in fact Stewart…

The stars looked as if they were aligning, and while the series finale of Arrow definitely did the show justice, one of the best scenes was in the closing minutes when a projectile came through the earth’s atmosphere crashing to the ground.  When Diggle goes to check it out it is none other than…the Green Lantern Power Ring!  Now, they didn’t show it, but come on, it’s clearly that, right?  It was awesome and completely gave us what we wanted!  If you haven’t viewed the scene then what are you waiting for?!  Check it out above (or you can be like me and watch it numerous times).

So where do we go from here?  Was that it?  Did we get what we wanted and that’s the conclusion?  I think (hope) we will see Diggle suit up as Green Lantern at some point.  Maybe he will show up on The Flash.  In the comics, Flash and Green Lantern are good friends, even though it was usually Hal Jordan, but with Barry and Diggle having such an extensive background already, this could be a way to explore that area.  Or, I think it is more probable that you could see him show up in next year’s crossover event.
