Disney may have made its name revolution the world of animation, but in recent years, they’ve also made quite the impact with their live-action films — and I’m not just talking about the remakes of their animated movies. They have also adapted beloved kid’s novels and theme park rides successfully (though sometimes not-so-successfully), somehow finding that mix between family-friendly and deliciously dark.
With the upcoming Artemis Fowl adaptation, it looks like they are walking that tightrope yet again. Based on the Eoin Colfer novel of the same name, this adaptation comes courtesy of Cinderella and Thor director Kenneth Branagh, it contains all the cheesy elements I’d normally hate — a world in danger, a chosen one plotline, and a little kid trying to be cool with a stupid pair of sunglasses. But, thanks to this new teaser, it somehow works, and has me intrigued to keep watching (Maybe the folks promoting Mortal Engines can learn a thing or two).
