One of the long-standing rumors and theories regarding the as yet untitled Avengers 4, is that somehow the character will utilize the Quantum Realm to repair the damage done by Thanos in Infinity War. The Quantum Realm was featured heavily in Ant-Man and the Wasp as Hank Pym played by Michael Douglas attempted to mount a rescue of his wife Janet who was lost inside the Quantum Realm many years earlier. One of the first hints of the power of this Quantum Realm was a warning Janet then gives to Scott Lang about watching for time vortexes.
Considering that we think Avengers 4 will feature time travel the connection was made between Avengers 4 and the Quantum Realm. However, in addition to this connection, there then surfaced the fan theory that the glowing orbs Scott Lang sees in the Quantum Realm in the mid-credits scene from Ant-Man and the Wasp, are actually the souls of all the dead people arriving after Thanos snap in Infinity War. It’s only a theory, but one that I find compelling based on the evidence.
Now Michael Douglas in a radio interview with On Air With Ryan Seacrest has confirmed that the Quantum Realm will play a big role on all Marvel movies going forward, one of which is certainly Avengers 4. Asked if Ant-Man and the Wasp is directly connected to what happens next Douglas said,
“I mean, all of them. I mean, the Quantum Realm, that’s the key, that’s the key. The Quantum Realm plays an important part in all the next chapters, I think, of the Marvel movies.”
Is this last piece of evidence we need to truly predict that the Quantum Realm is going to be huge part of the plot of Avengers 4? Probably, however, it is worth recalling that Michael Douglas was confused when he read the script for Ant-Man and the Wasp because he had no idea about the events that had gone down in Captain America: Civil War, so he might not be all that aware of the greater universe going on around his own movies. Saying that though, there are rumors that Douglas may make an appearance in Avengers 4 himself, so perhaps he does know more about that movie especially?
Are you convinced yet or still unsure about the importance of the Quantum Realm? Sound off below as always.
