Good lord, this is getting out of hand. There have been countless reports in the past couple weeks pointing to Avengers 4 dropping soon. More recently, the scuttlebutt has pointed to it hitting the web this Wednesday — and that idea mostly made sense. With Captain Marvel out of the way a couple days prior, you aren’t overshadowing that film, and you’re making a big splash right at the end of the year, as it’d not only be a trailer reveal, but a title reveal as well.

But will it actually hit? That seems to be the eternal question with Avengers 4. With the number of relatively trustworthy sources pegging this thing for this Wednesday, I thought that question was set to be answered sooner rather than later. But, of course, things could never be this easy. Now, Collider editor-in-chief Steve Weintraub has taken to social media to cast even more doubt:

“Here’s a bit more info. Heard the Avengers 4 trailer was going to drop last week. Then I heard this Wednesday. Now I’m hearing the date has changed. Again. So anyone that tells you they know for sure when the trailer is dropping doesn’t know what they are talking about.”

At this point, it seems like Marvel Studios may even be playing it by ear. This is just speculation, but perhaps there’s been some back and forth about how soon after Captain Marvel they should release it. Maybe now that they’re seeing reactions to this, they want to give it a bit more space before they make our heads explode. Fingers crossed for a mid-month release, but who knows at this point?
