According to some recent Barside Buzz the Avengers 5 and Spider-Man 4 directors are to be announced soon. The Information comes from Daniel RPK as you can see from the social media link below. Avengers 5, formerly called The Kang Dynasty has been without a director since Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi) left the project. Whereas no director has yet ever been attached to Spider-Man 4. In fact Spider-Man 4 happening is not even official.

One would assume RPK has heard there are no names attached to these movies. He’s obviously not saying if he knows who. Perhaps he’s only heard that the searches are nearing their conclusions for both pictures?
RPK himself has been reporting on a disagreement between Sony and Marvel around the direction Spider-Man 4 should take. He also mentioned that Sony want Jon Watts back and Marvel would prefer a new voice. It remains to be seen if that makes Watts more or less likely to be asked back. That’s also given he wants to. Remember at one int he was Marvel’s choice to direct Fantastic Four and he pulled out of that project. Watts has been involved heavily in producing Skeleton Crew for Lucasfilm recently but far as we know he was not directing on that show.

Other names we’ve heard for Spidey are Sam Raimi and Drew Goddard. I think Raimi if he does come back is more likely for Avengers, but Goddard could be a good choice. Especially if Feige gets his way and Spider-Man 4 is a street level movie.
As for Avengers 5 I really have no idea who they may go for there. Raimi as said above was rumored as a potential for Secret Wars, but nothing solid. Really I would guess Marvel wants someone they’ve worked with before on an Avengers movie. Someone they can trust with that higher budget and all the players. In that respect that are candidates out there, and I really think it’ll be someone who has already directed an MCU movie.
