For over five decades, Pepe Serna has maintained the door open for more Chicanos to break into Hollywood. In his new documentary, Pepe Serna: Life is Art, Serna himself shares his colorful journey in the entertainment industry. In the past five decades he has worked alongside trailblazer icons like Clint Eastwood, Meryl Streep, Steve Martin, Johnny Depp and Al Pacino among a long list that till today continues.

Pepe Serna grew up watching the Golden Age Mexican cinema and knew he wanted to be an actor from a very young age. Before achieving his dream to arrive in Hollywood, he pursued an acting career in his native Texas, New York and even Mexico City. The big break came in 1970 in The Student Nurses along with Elaine Giftos and Karen Carlson. Since then Serna has been in over 160 projects. Some of his older projects he is remembered for is The Jerk with Steve Martin, The Adventures of Backaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension with Peter Walker and John Lithgow, Scarface and The Roockie with Clint Eastwood who was not only the lead actor but also directed. Recent projects include last year’s Flamin’ Hot and Prime Video series With Love. Beautiful Darkness is one of his future projects with Emilio Rivera and Efrain Figueroa.
