Some Marvel Barside Buzz today as Avengers 5 is rumored to begin pre-production soon and Marvel boss Kevin Feige is closing in on a director for the movie. The information comes from leaker MTTSH, who still has a good hit rate for scoops. Though, considering Avengers 5 won’t go under cameras till sometime in 2025, this does seem a bit early for pre-production.
MTTSH claims that pre- production will begin for Avengers 5 as early as next month. The leaker also claims that we are close to a director being signed on to helm the film. I would have thought Marvel would want to have the director hired before pre-production. They may have a story, but you still need a directors vision for how that gets onto film.
There have been rumors recently that Marvel were on the search for a director for Avengers 5, so it makes sense they are narrowing that list. I don’t have any names to give you, nor did MTTSH in her posts to her subscribers. So whoever it is they are closing in on, remains to be seen.

Of course at one point this movie was called Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and it was to be helmed by Destin Daniel Cretton. However that was before many things changed at Marvel and Cretton announced he was no longer directing this next Avengers film. Our most recent rumors regarding Avengers 5 says that it will be more of a standalone movie. Additionally, that Secret Wars could be split into a Part 1 and Part 2. Check those out above.
So what kind of things will happen in pre-production? Not a lot as far as we are concerned from the outside. There will be things like location scouting, set design, logistics including actors available windows. You know, the boring details most fans don’t care about. We also rarely get to hear much about this stage of a film. It’s normally once principal photography begins that we get a few leaks about a film.
