Tony Stark has been on one hell of a journey. Captain America has been on one hell of a journey. Even Hawkeye has been on one hell of a journey. If you’re creating a film over the course over 11 years, it’d be hard to imagine that characters HAVEN’T changed over that period of time. There’s no way these movies would have been as well-received if these changes were nonexistent.
And, of course, all of these changes came to a head in Avengers: Endgame, the big superhero team-up film that brought a close to the Infinity Saga. With that movie coming out at the end of this month, you know Marvel will be pushing featurettes diving into this aspect.

On Twitter, the official Marvel Studios Twitter account shared a section of one of those featurettes, wherein some of the actors started to discuss the arcs of their characters. More specifically, we got Robert Downey Jr. talking about how far Tony Stark has come since that first movie, and near the tail end, we even get Jeremy Renner talking Hawkeye.

To me, the power of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has always been in their character arcs. While they have managed to replicate some of the experience of the comic books with it, one thing they haven’t done is create a status quo for the characters to fall back on. The world is ever-evolving, and the second they create a status quo, something changes — and that’s what’s made it all so meaningful.
