Over the course of the past week, I’ve received several emails regarding spoilers. Simply put, many of you readers don’t want to be spoiled by the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War. While we do our best here to ensure that no headlines are filled with spoilers and that you are all sufficiently warned before spoilers are dropped, some things slip through the cracks.
Additionally, it doesn’t help that everyone has a different idea of what a spoiler is. Personally, I think key twists and character deaths are spoilers. Everything outside of that is fair game. But there are plenty who think that the minor mention of a character’s motivation could be considered a spoiler. But should these things really ruin a movie? Avengers: Infinity War star Anthony Mackie doesn’t think so.
“And the idea is there is so much in this movie; that even if you get a spoiler, the other 99 percent of the movie is going to blow your mind. To the point that one spoiler, it won’t even matter.”
Translation: get ready, because there are a LOT of potential spoilers in this film. All joking aside, I do tend to agree that unless the spoilers are pivotal to the plot, they don’t really matter. All in all, if a movie’s execution of those moments are done well, then I will be affected emotionally every time, regardless of whether or not I saw it coming.
What do you think of Mackie’s comments. Do spoilers ruin movies for you? Let us know your thoughts down below!
